QCT Server Memory: QuantaGrid, QuantaPlex & QuantaEdge by Model
Memory upgrades for QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology) QuantaGrid rack and GPU servers, QuantaPlex multi-node servers and QuantaEdge edge servers, from DDR4-2666 Xeon platforms to DDR5-6400 Xeon 6. Each listing is matched to one QCT model and one memory type, using the speed, module sizes and capacities QCT specifies for that model. This page explains how to identify your QCT server and which memory it takes. Find your QCT model first
The model name (for example QuantaGrid D52B-1U or QuantaPlex T42S-2U) is on the label on the chassis and on your QCT order paperwork. The family tells you the form: QuantaGrid is a rack or GPU server, QuantaPlex a multi-node server, and QuantaEdge an edge server. The number after the letter identifies the processor platform: D52 and D53 use Intel Xeon Scalable with DDR4, D54 uses 5th and 4th Gen Xeon with DDR5, D55 uses Xeon 6, D43 uses AMD EPYC 7002 / 7003 with DDR4, and D44 uses AMD EPYC 9004 / 9005 with DDR5. The suffix gives the height in rack units (1U, 2U, 4U). Multi-node models list the slots in each node.

Models that take LRDIMM have two listings, one for RDIMM and one for LRDIMM, and each listing links to the other.
Which memory does my QCT server take?
- Intel Xeon 6: RDIMM 32GB to 128GB. 16 to 32 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models). DDR5-6400 at one DIMM per channel.
- AMD EPYC 9004 / 9005: RDIMM 16GB to 128GB. 24 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models).
- 5th / 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable: RDIMM 16GB to 128GB. 8 to 32 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models).
- 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable: RDIMM 8GB to 64GB or LRDIMM 64GB and 128GB. 8 to 32 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models).
- AMD EPYC 7002 / 7003: RDIMM 8GB to 64GB or LRDIMM 64GB and 128GB. 16 to 32 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models).
- 1st / 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable: RDIMM 8GB to 64GB or LRDIMM 64GB and 128GB. 12 to 48 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models).
- Entry DDR4-2666: RDIMM 8GB to 64GB. 8 to 12 DIMM slots per server (per node on multi-node models). RDIMM only.
Sizes and slot counts vary by model within a platform. Each listing shows the exact module sizes, kit sizes and slot count for that model.
Rules that apply across QCT servers
- RDIMM or LRDIMM, never both. Registered and load-reduced modules cannot share a server. Match what is installed, or replace every module.
- DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable. The DDR5 models take DDR5 ECC Registered memory only. Unbuffered modules and DDR4 will not work.
- The processor and population set the speed. A module runs at the speed the installed processor and slot population support, so DDR5-6400 Xeon 6 memory runs at 5200 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel, and some DDR4-3200 platforms run at 2933 MT/s.
- Install identical modules in each channel. Using one module size throughout gives the full memory bandwidth.
- MRDIMM is not offered. QCT lists MRDIMM for some Xeon 6 platforms; NEMIX supplies standard RDIMM for those servers.
