Memory upgrades for GIGABYTE systems of every kind: R, G, H, B, E and S-series servers, server motherboards, W-series workstations, and AORUS, AERO and GAMING desktop motherboards. Every listing at NEMIX RAM is matched to one GIGABYTE model, using the memory type, speed and module sizes GIGABYTE specifies for it. This page explains how to identify your GIGABYTE system and which memory it takes. To go straight to the products, type your GIGABYTE model number into the search bar at the top of the page.

Find your GIGABYTE model first

On a GIGABYTE server, the full model number (for example R283-Z96-AAE1 or G494-SB4-AAP2) is on the system label, the chassis pull-out tag and your order paperwork; the last part of the number (the suffix, such as -AAE1 or -AAJ1) identifies the configuration. Suffix versions of the same system take the same memory, and the search finds every one of them. On a server or desktop motherboard, the model (for example MZ73-LM0 or X870E AORUS MASTER) is printed on the board between the slots.

Which memory does my GIGABYTE server take?

GIGABYTE server memory follows the processor platform. Each listing states the slot count and the speed GIGABYTE rates for that model; faster modules run at the speed the platform supports.

Desktop motherboards

GIGABYTE desktop motherboards take non-ECC unbuffered UDIMMs: DDR5 on AMD AM5 (X870E, X870, B850, B650, A620) and Intel LGA1851 and most LGA1700 boards, and DDR4 on AM4, LGA1200 and the DDR4 versions of LGA1700 boards. Examples: X870E AORUS MASTER X3D ICE, Z890 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 PLUS, B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE, Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ICE, B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2. To browse by chipset, see motherboard memory by chipset.

Rules that apply across GIGABYTE systems

  • Match the generation. DDR5 and DDR4 modules are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots.
  • Registered or unbuffered, never both. Servers on Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC 9000/8000/7000 and Ampere take registered memory (RDIMM, or LRDIMM where listed); EPYC 4004/4005, Ryzen, Xeon 6300/E-2400 and Intel Core platforms take unbuffered UDIMMs.
  • MRDIMMs are a separate type. Xeon 6 and EPYC 9006 platforms also accept multiplexed-rank MRDIMMs; NEMIX RAM listings on those platforms are standard RDIMMs.
  • Install identical modules and populate channels evenly. Use one module size and type per system: eight or twelve channels per processor on current Xeon and EPYC servers, matched pairs on desktops.

Why NEMIX RAM for GIGABYTE memory

NEMIX RAM is a US-based server memory specialist, in business since 1993. Every module is researched, matched, and compatibility-tested by NEMIX RAM, is JEDEC-compliant, and is backed by a lifetime warranty. Each GIGABYTE listing names the exact model it fits, and the catalog covers every current GIGABYTE server, server board and workstation with a published memory specification, plus earlier DDR4 platforms still in service.

Data centers, AI clusters and integrators

GIGABYTE servers and boards fill AI clusters, HPC sites, hosting fleets and integrator builds. Purchase orders, net terms and volume pricing are available for data centers, research labs, universities, government buyers, system integrators and resellers. Request a quote for a cluster, a rack refresh or a build program, or send us your GIGABYTE model number and we will confirm the right module before you order.

Frequently asked

My GIGABYTE server model has a different suffix than your listing. Will the memory fit?
Suffix versions of the same GIGABYTE system (for example R283-Z96-AAE1 and R283-Z96-AAJ1) use the same board and take the same memory. Search your full model number and the matching listing appears.

My Xeon 6 or EPYC 9006 server is rated above DDR5-6400. Can I use DDR5-6400 RDIMMs?
Yes. Standard DDR5-6400 RDIMMs run at up to 6400 MT/s on those platforms. The higher ratings apply to newer RDIMMs or to MRDIMMs, which are a separate module type.

Can I add NEMIX RAM modules to the memory already installed?
Yes, if the new modules match the installed ones in type, capacity, rank and speed. For servers, install identical modules within each processor's channels; when in doubt, replace the full set or send us your current module part number.

Do you have memory for GIGABYTE systems sold by Thinkmate?
Yes. Thinkmate-configured GIGABYTE servers are listed by their GIGABYTE model in the Thinkmate GIGABYTE collection and in the server collections above.
