The memory-brand column is for the case where the module in your hand is what you are matching — a Samsung, Micron, SK hynix, or Kingston part pulled from a slot, with no system paperwork. Its label decodes to capacity, generation, speed, rank, and form factor, and those pages list the NEMIX RAM equivalent for each.

Four things that settle which module fits, before the brand matters

  • Form factor. Registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), unbuffered (UDIMM), or small-outline (SODIMM). A server takes RDIMM or LRDIMM and will not post with a UDIMM; a desktop, workstation-class motherboard, or tower NAS takes UDIMM; a laptop, mini PC, or compact NAS takes SODIMM. Registered and unbuffered are electrically different and never interchange; RDIMM and LRDIMM do not mix in one system.
  • ECC. Servers, Xeon and EPYC workstations, and the Xeon and Ryzen PRO NAS units require ECC. Consumer desktops, laptops, and Celeron / Atom NAS units take non-ECC. Where a platform accepts both, do not mix them. On a DDR5 UDIMM the ECC module has 80 bits of data width versus 64 on non-ECC — a physically different part, not a firmware setting.
  • Generation. DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 are keyed differently and cannot be inserted in the wrong slot. Within DDR3, the 1.35V DDR3L variant is required by the low-power NAS and laptop platforms of that era, and a 1.5V module will not run in them.
  • Speed and rank. The processor sets the speed the system runs at; a faster module of the right generation runs at the CPU's speed. Rank (1Rx8, 2Rx4, 2Rx8, 4Rx4, 8Rx4) affects which slots a module may occupy and how many the system accepts, and matters most on fully populated servers. Match the installed module's rank when adding to a set.

Each manufacturer page repeats the rules that are specific to that brand — Dell and HPE's slot-order and fault-tolerant-mode rules, Supermicro's board-revision notes, QNAP's dual-controller matching, the DDR3L units at ASUSTOR and TerraMaster — so the detail lives where it applies.

Finding what is installed, on any platform

  1. Server management controller. Dell iDRAC → System → Memory; HPE iLO → System Information → Memory; Lenovo XCC → Inventory → Memory; Cisco CIMC → Inventory → Memory; Supermicro, ASRock Rack, ASUS, and Gigabyte IPMI → System → Memory. Each shows capacity, speed, rank, form factor, and the installed part number per slot without powering down.
  2. Operating system. Windows: Task Manager → Performance → Memory shows capacity, speed, form factor, and slots used; wmic memorychip get PartNumber,Capacity,Speed,FormFactor lists the part per slot. Linux: sudo dmidecode -t memory. macOS: About This Mac → System Report → Memory.
  3. NAS operating system. Synology DSM → Control Panel → Info Center; QNAP QTS / QuTS hero → System Status → Hardware Information; ASUSTOR ADM → System Information; TerraMaster TOS → System Information; UGREEN UGOS → Device Info. Each shows installed capacity and, on multi-slot units, slot population.
  4. The module label. The manufacturer's part number is printed on every module and decodes on the memory-brand pages above.
  5. The service tag or serial. Dell, HPE, Lenovo, and Cisco all return the as-shipped memory configuration from the service tag on their support sites, which tells you what the system left the factory with even if it has since been changed.

What "compatible with" means on this site

A NEMIX RAM module listed against a manufacturer's part is Match Tested to that part's specification — the same capacity, generation, speed, rank, form factor, ECC, and voltage, on Micron, Samsung, or SK hynix DRAM — and run in the platform class it is listed for before it is offered. NEMIX RAM modules do the same job in the same slot. Some vendors' firmware shows an informational notice for memory not from their own catalog — HPE and Dell both do on certain generations — which does not affect operation and is described on each brand's page. Every module carries a lifetime replacement warranty and free US-based technical support.

My manufacturer is not on this page. The Signature Series covers every module type we build by specification, and most systems from a manufacturer not listed here take a standard JEDEC module that one of those filters will find. Send us the model and we confirm which one.

I have a part number but do not know which brand it belongs to. Prefixes are a reliable tell: SNP / AA / AB / 370- is Dell; a -B21 or -001 suffix is HPE; MEM-DR is Supermicro; UCS-MR / UCS-ML is Cisco; 4X77 / 4ZC7 / 7X77 / 01AG is Lenovo; RAM-xxG is QNAP; AS-xxG is ASUSTOR; KSM is Kingston; M393 / M321 / M471 is Samsung; MTA / MTC is Micron and CT is Crucial; HMA / HMC / HMAA is SK hynix.

Is the module the same across brands? Often, yes. Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco, and Supermicro all buy from the same three DRAM makers, and a 32GB DDR4-3200 2Rx4 RDIMM sold under five OEM labels is the same specification. What differs is the OEM's qualification and firmware notice, not the part.

Can I mix brands or capacities in one system? Mixing capacities and ranks is usually supported within a channel's rules but it costs bandwidth and, on some platforms, speed. Matched sets across all populated channels are the configuration every manufacturer documents as optimal, and it is what the manufacturer pages sell.

Does upgrading void the system warranty? No. Every manufacturer on this page documents memory as customer-installable and publishes the procedure. Our lifetime warranty covers the module; the system warranty is unchanged.
