Find your Lanner model first
Lanner model names tell you the class of product: NCA rackmount and desktop network appliances, ECA edge AI servers, and LEC embedded computers. The model decides the memory: a DDR5 registered RDIMM Xeon 6 appliance, a DDR4 UDIMM Atom appliance and a DDR4 SO-DIMM desktop appliance each take a different module, and none of them are interchangeable.

ECC and non-ECC modules are separate listings where the platform supports both: the NCA-5240, NCA-5210 and NCA-2510 have ECC UDIMM listings next to their non-ECC listings, the NCA-2510 also has a registered RDIMM listing, and the NCA-1516 takes ECC SO-DIMM. The NCA-6250, NCA-5550 and ECA-5555 take registered RDIMM. The NCA-4240, NCA-1040, NCA-1600 and LEC-2290A listings cover non-ECC modules. Check the platform note in the tables first, because Lanner lists ECC on the NCA-5210 as dependent on the processor and does not say which NCA-5240 processors enable it.
Models we are confirming
Lanner's page for the HMB-6130 compute blade is marked preliminary and does not say whether it takes RDIMM or LRDIMM, so we are confirming the memory configuration before listing it. If you run one, send us the model number and we will match the module.
Rules that apply across Lanner appliances
- SO-DIMM, UDIMM or RDIMM. The NCA-1516, NCA-1040, NCA-1600 and LEC-2290A take laptop-size SO-DIMMs. The NCA-4240, NCA-5240 and NCA-5210 take full-size UDIMMs. The NCA-2510 takes UDIMMs or registered RDIMMs. The NCA-6250, NCA-5550 and ECA-5555 take registered RDIMMs. They are not interchangeable.
- DDR4 or DDR5. The two generations are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots. The NCA-5210, NCA-2510, NCA-1516, NCA-1040 and LEC-2290A are DDR4; the rest are DDR5.
- Speed follows the platform. Modules run at the speed the processor and board support. Lanner lists DDR5-6400 on the NCA-6250, NCA-5550 and ECA-5555, so our DDR5-5600 RDIMMs run at 5600 MT/s there. The NCA-5240 runs at 4400 MT/s, and the NCA-5210 and NCA-2510 run DDR4 at 2400 MT/s, so faster modules run at those speeds on those models.
- Populate matched modules. Run identical modules in a multi-module setup. Do not mix ECC and non-ECC modules, or registered and unbuffered modules.
- Check the SKU and processor. Socket count, ECC and maximum capacity can depend on the SKU or processor you ordered. The ECA-5555 has four sockets on SKUs A, C, D and G and eight on SKUs E and F.

Does my Lanner appliance take laptop or desktop memory?
It depends on the model. The NCA-1516, NCA-1040, NCA-1600 and LEC-2290A take SO-DIMMs, the laptop-size module. The NCA-4240, NCA-5240, NCA-5210 and NCA-2510 take UDIMMs, and the NCA-2510, NCA-6250, NCA-5550 and ECA-5555 also take registered server modules. The DDR generation must match as well: DDR5 on the NCA-6250, NCA-5550, NCA-5240, NCA-4240, NCA-1600 and ECA-5555, and DDR4 on the rest.
Can I use ECC memory in my Lanner appliance?
Where Lanner lists ECC, there is an ECC listing: the NCA-5240, NCA-5210, NCA-2510, NCA-1516, and the registered RDIMM models NCA-6250, NCA-5550 and ECA-5555. On the NCA-5210 ECC depends on the processor, so check yours first. The NCA-4240, NCA-1040, NCA-1600 and LEC-2290A take non-ECC memory here.
How much memory can I install?
Each listing states the slot count and the maximum Lanner lists for that model: 32GB on the NCA-1040, 64GB on the NCA-4240, NCA-5210, NCA-1516, NCA-1600 and LEC-2290A, 128GB on the NCA-2510 with registered modules, 192GB on the NCA-5240, 768GB on the NCA-5550, 1TB on the ECA-5555 SKUs E and F (512GB on the other SKUs) and 1.5TB on the NCA-6250.
