Find your TerraMaster model first
The model number (for example F4-424 Pro, T9-500 Pro or U12-725 Plus) is on the label on the back or base of the NAS and in the TOS web interface. The first letter is the form factor: F for desktop, T for tower, U for rackmount, followed by the bay count. The second number is the generation, and it decides the memory. Read the whole name: Pro, Plus and Max versions often use a different processor and a different number of slots than the base model. The F4-424 has one DDR5 slot, while the F4-424 Max has two.

TerraMaster models with memory that cannot be upgraded
The F4-212 runs an ARM processor with 2GB of memory and no memory slot, so it takes no memory module.
Rules that apply across TerraMaster NAS
- Match the generation and form factor. DDR5 SODIMM, DDR4 SODIMM, DDR4 UDIMM and DDR3L SODIMM are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots.
- ECC only where TerraMaster specifies it. The U-725 series takes ECC DDR4 UDIMMs; the F-series and T-series take non-ECC SODIMMs. Do not mix ECC and non-ECC modules, and do not use registered RDIMMs.
- Single-slot models take one module. Replace the installed module with the capacity you need, up to the listed maximum.
- Two-slot models run best with a matched pair. Install identical modules for dual-channel operation, or add one module matching the installed one.

Frequently asked
Do the Pro, Plus and Max versions take the same memory as the base model?
Not always. The F4-424 takes one DDR5 module, the F4-424 Max takes two, and the F4-425 takes DDR4 while the F4-425 Plus takes DDR5. Each version has its own listing; search your full model name.
Can I use ECC memory in my TerraMaster F-series or T-series NAS?
No. Those models take non-ECC SODIMMs. ECC memory is for the U-725 rackmount series, which takes ECC DDR4 UDIMMs.
How much memory can I install?
Each listing states the slot count and the maximum TerraMaster specifies for that model, and the sizes offered stay within it: 32GB on most single-slot DDR5 models, 64GB on two-slot DDR5 models, and 16GB on the F2-425 and F4-425.
Can I add a NEMIX RAM module to the memory already installed?
On two-slot models, yes, if the new module matches the installed one in generation, capacity and speed. On single-slot models, the new module replaces the installed one.
