Intel Server Memory: Server Boards, R1000/R2000 Systems & Compute Modules
Memory upgrades for Intel-branded server boards, R1000 and R2000 family rack systems and compute modules. Every Intel listing at NEMIX RAM is matched to one Intel model and to the memory that platform takes: the right DDR4 module type, speed and size. This page explains how to identify your Intel platform, what memory each one uses and how to install it. To go straight to the products, shop all Intel server memory or type your Intel model number into the search bar at the top of the page.
Find your Intel model number first
Everything follows from the model number. On a board it is printed on the board itself and on the box label; on a rack system it is on the system label on the chassis; on a compute module it is on the module label. Your order paperwork carries it too. Intel model numbers follow a simple pattern:
| Example | What it is | Board inside |
|---|---|---|
| S2600WFT, S2600CWTR, S1200SPLR | Server board: "S" plus the board family, then letters that name the board variant. | Itself |
| R2208WFTZS, R1304WT2GS, R1304SPOSHOR | Rack server system. "R1" is a 1U system and "R2" a 2U system; the letters after the drive-bay digits name the board family (WF, WT or SP). | S2600WF, S2600WT or S1200SP |
| HNS2600BPB, HNS2600TPFR, S9248WK1HLC | Compute module: one node of a multi-node chassis. | S2600BP, S2600TP or S9200WK |
A rack system takes the same memory as the board inside it, so an R2208WFTZS uses S2600WF memory and an R1304SPOSHOR uses S1200SP memory.
Memory by Intel platform
All of these platforms use DDR4. Capacity shows what a fully populated board or node holds using the NEMIX module for that platform.

Rules that apply across every Intel platform here
- Registered or unbuffered, never both. The S1200SP family (and the R1208SP and R1304SP systems built on it) takes ECC unbuffered memory (ECC UDIMM) only. Every other platform on this page takes registered memory: RDIMM or LRDIMM.
- Do not mix LRDIMMs and RDIMMs in the same system. If your server already has RDIMMs installed, replace them all or match what is there.
- Install identical modules in matched groups. Six per processor on Xeon Scalable boards (S2600WF, S2600ST, S2600BP), four per processor on Xeon E5 v3/v4 boards (S2600WT, S2600CW, S2600TP, S2600KP), three per memory controller on the S7200AP, and pairs on the S1200SP. S9200WK compute modules take identical modules in groups of 8, 16 or 24.
- Speed follows the processor. The DDR4-2666 modules on this page run at DDR4-2666 or at the processor's rated memory speed if that is lower: DDR4-2400 with Xeon E5 v4, DDR4-2133 with Xeon E5 v3.
- Compute modules do not share memory. Each node in a multi-node chassis has its own slots and needs its own set of modules.

If your Intel model is not on this page
NEMIX RAM lists the Intel boards and systems customers ask for most. If yours is not here, or you need RDIMMs or a different module size for one of these platforms, send us the Intel model number and we will confirm the right module before you order. For Intel C621 and C422 boards from other brands, see Intel C621 and C422 motherboard memory.
Why NEMIX RAM for Intel server memory
NEMIX RAM is a US-based server memory specialist, in business since 1993. Every module is researched, matched, and compatibility-tested by NEMIX RAM, is JEDEC-compliant, and is backed by a lifetime warranty. Each Intel listing names the exact board, system or compute module it fits, so there is no guesswork about module type or speed.
Clusters, labs and data centers
Intel S2600 boards and compute modules still run in HPC clusters, research labs, universities and hosting fleets. Purchase orders, net terms and volume pricing are available for data centers, government buyers and resellers as well. Request a quote for a full cluster, a rack refresh or a spares pool.
Frequently asked
Will a DDR4-2666 module work in a board rated for DDR4-2400?
Yes. DDR4 memory runs at the highest speed both the module and the processor support, so a DDR4-2666 module runs at DDR4-2400 in a Xeon E5 v4 system.
Can I add 64GB LRDIMMs to a server that already has RDIMMs?
No. LRDIMMs and RDIMMs cannot be mixed in the same system. Replace the existing modules or contact us for RDIMMs that match them.
Does the S1200SP take registered server memory?
No. S1200SP boards and the R1208SP and R1304SP systems take ECC unbuffered DIMMs (ECC UDIMM) only, up to 16GB per slot and 64GB in total.
How much memory does a multi-node chassis need?
Each compute module is populated separately. A chassis with four HNS2600TP nodes needs four sets of modules, one per node.
