Find your Kontron model first
Kontron model names tell you the class of product: K-series and D-series industrial boards, COMe and COMh computer-on-modules, the K9051-C741 server board and the CG2400 carrier-grade server. The model decides the memory: a DDR5 SO-DIMM Mini-ITX board, a DDR4 ECC UDIMM ATX board and a DDR4 RDIMM server each take a different module, and none of them are interchangeable.

ECC and non-ECC modules are separate listings where the platform supports both: the D3641-S and D3646-S (ECC UDIMM), D3713 (ECC SODIMM), COMe-bTL6, COMe-bCL6 and COMh-ccAS (ECC SODIMM) and K3851-R (ECC UDIMM) have ECC listings, and the K9051-C741 and CG2400 take ECC RDIMM, with LRDIMM on the CG2400. The K3831-H, K3832-Q, K4031-H, K4021-U, K3841-Q and D3633-S listings cover non-ECC modules. Check the platform note in the tables first, because ECC support on the COM modules depends on the processor or chipset variant you ordered.
Models we are confirming
Kontron's own documents for the K3881-C, COMh-caAP and COBALT RR-2500 give differing or incomplete memory figures, so we are confirming the memory configuration before listing them. If you run one of these, send us the model number and we will match the module.
Rules that apply across Kontron industrial products
- SO-DIMM, UDIMM or RDIMM. The K3831-H, K3832-Q, K4031-H, K4021-U, D3633-S, D3713 and the COM modules take laptop-size SO-DIMMs. The K3841-Q, K3851-R and D3641-S and D3646-S take full-size UDIMMs. The K9051-C741 and CG2400 take registered RDIMMs, and the CG2400 also takes LRDIMMs. They are not interchangeable.
- DDR4 or DDR5. The two generations are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots. The D3633-S, D3641-S and D3646-S, D3713, COMe-bTL6, COMe-bCL6 and CG2400 are DDR4; the rest are DDR5.
- Speed follows the platform. Modules run at the speed the processor and board support. The K3841-Q and K3851-R run at up to 4400 MT/s with all four sockets filled, DDR5-5600 on the K3831-H and K3832-Q depends on the processor, and the D3713 runs at DDR4-2400 on most variants, so faster modules run at those speeds on those models.
- Populate matched modules. Run identical modules in a multi-module setup. Do not mix ECC and non-ECC modules.
- Check the processor and variant. ECC, speed and maximum capacity can depend on the processor or board variant you ordered. Kontron's documentation for your configuration lists what it supports.

Does my Kontron board take laptop or desktop memory?
It depends on the model. The K3831-H, K3832-Q, K4031-H, K4021-U, D3633-S, D3713 and the COMe and COMh modules take SO-DIMMs, the laptop-size module. The K3841-Q, K3851-R and D3641-S and D3646-S take UDIMMs, and the K9051-C741 and CG2400 take registered server modules. The DDR generation must match as well: DDR5 on the K-series boards and COMh-ccAS, DDR4 on the D-series boards, COMe modules and CG2400.
Can I use ECC memory in my Kontron board?
Where Kontron lists ECC, there is an ECC listing: the K3851-R, D3641-S and D3646-S, D3713, COMe-bTL6, COMe-bCL6, COMh-ccAS, K9051-C741 and CG2400. On the COM modules ECC works only on specific processor or chipset variants, so check yours first. The other listed models take non-ECC memory.
How much memory can I install?
Each listing states the slot count and the maximum Kontron lists for that model: 32GB on the D3713, 64GB on the D3633-S, D3641-S and D3646-S, COMe modules and COMh-ccAS, 96GB on the K3831-H, K3832-Q, K4031-H and K4021-U, 192GB on the K3841-Q and K3851-R, 768GB on the K9051-C741 and 2TB on the CG2400.
