NEMIX RAM UGREEN NASync Memory Upgrades

UGREEN ships the NASync line with 8GB of DDR5 and leaves the slot accessible — which makes memory the cheapest meaningful upgrade you can make to one. More RAM is what lets these boxes actually run the containers, virtual machines and media transcoding they're sold on.

Every NASync here takes DDR5 4800MHz PC5-38400 non-ECC SODIMM. Same module type across the range; the difference is how much your model will hold.

Why buy a tested module. UGREEN publishes a verified-memory list and is explicit that you should match the module, not just the DDR generation and speed — an unlisted module isn't necessarily incompatible, but it isn't verified either. Every module here is tested in the NASync it's listed against, which is the part a spec sheet can't tell you.

All six take the same module: DDR5-4800 (PC5-38400) non-ECC 262-pin SODIMM, 1.1V. A 5600 module fits and runs at 4800; there is no benefit to paying for it. The DH-series (DH2300, DH4300 Plus) has memory soldered to the board and is not upgradeable, which is why it is not on this page.

What more memory actually does on a NASync

UGOS Pro itself is comfortable in 8GB. Everything people buy a NASync to run on top of it is not. Docker containers each hold their working set in RAM — a Plex or Jellyfin server, a Pi-hole, Home Assistant, a download client, and a reverse proxy together are 3–5GB before any of them are busy. A single virtual machine wants 4–8GB to itself. Hardware transcoding on the i5 models buffers in RAM, and Photos indexing and AI face recognition run in memory while they work. Past 8GB the box stops swapping to the drives, which is what makes the difference between "the app is installed" and "the app is responsive." 16GB covers a media server plus a handful of containers; 32GB covers containers plus a VM or two; 64GB is for people who replace UGOS with TrueNAS or Unraid and want ZFS to keep a large read cache resident.

How to install it

Shut the NASync down from UGOS Pro and unplug it.
The memory bay is on the underside behind a cover held by Phillips screws (the DXP480T Plus and DXP6800 Pro use the bottom panel; the DXP8800 Plus bay is at the rear). No drive removal required.
To replace: spread the two side latches, the module tilts up, pull it out. To add: seat the new module at about a 30-degree angle in the empty slot, notch aligned, then press down until both latches click.
Replace the cover, power on. UGOS Pro → Control Panel → Device Information → Hardware shows the new total. No configuration required.

Five minutes with one screwdriver. If the box does not power up, reseat the module — the latches need to click on both sides.

Rules that keep it simple

Two-slot models: install matched pairs for dual-channel. Two identical modules run dual-channel; one module, or 8GB plus 16GB, runs partly single-channel. Keeping the factory 8GB and adding a second 8GB is the cheapest full-speed 16GB; going to 32GB or 64GB is cleanest as a matched pair.
Single-slot models (DXP2800, DXP4800): replace, don't add. There is one slot, so the 16GB upgrade means removing the factory 8GB.
Stay at the documented maximum. UGREEN documents 16GB on the N100 models and 64GB on the i5 and Pentium models. Larger modules may post on some units but are not verified and are outside what UGREEN supports.
Speed is fixed at 4800. The N100 and the 12th Gen mobile processors run DDR5 at 4800; faster modules run at 4800. Match the speed, not a number above it.
Non-ECC only. NASync does not support ECC memory; an ECC SODIMM is not a safer choice here and may not post.

Why a tested module, not just the right spec

UGREEN's verified-memory list exists because DDR5 SODIMMs of the same nominal spec differ in DRAM die, rank, and SPD programming, and a mobile-class memory controller with a NAS BIOS behind it is less forgiving than a laptop. A module that meets DDR5-4800 on paper can still fail to train or drop to a lower speed. Every NEMIX RAM module on this page is built on Micron, Samsung, or SK hynix DRAM to the specification UGREEN qualified, then run in the NASync model it is listed for before it is offered — 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB, in the single and matched-pair configurations the table above calls for. Frequently asked

Will 32GB work in a DXP2800 or DXP4800? UGREEN documents 16GB as the maximum on the N100 models and that is what we list for them. Some owners report 32GB posting; it is outside the verified configuration and we do not warrant it as a fit for those units.

Do I have to remove the factory 8GB on the i5 models? No. Add a second 8GB for 16GB in dual-channel, or replace both with a matched 2×16GB or 2×32GB pair for 32GB or 64GB.

I'm replacing UGOS with TrueNAS or Unraid. Does that change the memory? Same module, same limits. Those systems benefit more from capacity — ZFS uses spare RAM as read cache — so 32GB or 64GB on a two-slot model is the common target.

Does upgrading void the UGREEN warranty? UGREEN documents memory as user-upgradeable and provides the access cover for it. Adding memory does not void the NAS warranty. Our lifetime warranty covers the module.

Does UGOS show a warning with non-UGREEN memory? No. UGOS Pro reports the installed capacity and runs it. There is no brand check.
