To confirm which Mac you have, open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac, then System Report, and read the Model Identifier line. Match it to the identifier shown on this page before you order. The 2017 21.5-inch identifiers are iMac18,1 and iMac18,2 (Retina 4K).
The 21.5-inch model has no memory door. Its two slots are behind the display, so installation means opening the machine; many owners have a service provider fit the modules.
