Short answer: almost every Thinkmate server, GPU system and workstation uses DDR5 or DDR4 ECC registered memory (RDIMM). Tower servers, entry servers and some edge systems use ECC unbuffered memory (UDIMM) instead. The exact type, speed and module size depend on your model and processor generation. This guide shows how to find your model and links to the matching NEMIX RAM listing for every Thinkmate system we cover: 482 listings across Thinkmate-branded systems and the Supermicro, GIGABYTE and ASUS servers Thinkmate configures.
Find your Thinkmate model first
Your model number is on the system label and on your Thinkmate order confirmation. Thinkmate-branded systems start with the product line (RAX, GPX, STX, TWX, VSX, HPX, HDX or EDX). Systems Thinkmate builds on other brands keep the original model number: Supermicro SYS- or SSG-, GIGABYTE R, G, H, B, E or W-series, and ASUS RS or ESC. Type the model number into the search bar at the top of any page on nemixram.com, or use the tables below.

Which type of memory does my Thinkmate system use?
- ECC RDIMM: registered memory for Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC servers, GPU systems and workstations. See DDR5 RDIMM and DDR4 RDIMM.
- LRDIMM: load-reduced modules for maximum capacity on a few DDR4 platforms. Do not mix with RDIMM.
- ECC UDIMM: unbuffered ECC memory for TWX towers, entry servers and edge systems. See DDR5 ECC UDIMM.
- Non-ECC UDIMM: some entry systems accept non-ECC as well. Where they do, both versions are listed and each links to the other. Choose one type; do not mix ECC and non-ECC.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Thinkmate model number?
It is on the system label and on your Thinkmate order confirmation. Thinkmate-branded systems use names such as RAX RXS6-2224-01 or GPX GXA6-2808-8HGX-B3; systems Thinkmate configures from other brands keep the original model number, such as Supermicro SYS-621BT-HNC8R, GIGABYTE R283-ZK0-AAL1 or ASUS ESC8000A-E13P.
Is RDIMM the same as ECC UDIMM?
No. RDIMM (registered) and UDIMM (unbuffered) modules are not interchangeable. Most Thinkmate servers, GPU systems and workstations use ECC RDIMM; TWX towers, entry servers and some edge systems use ECC UDIMM. Each listing names the type your system needs.
Why do some listings say DDR5-6400 and others DDR5-5600?
The supported speed depends on the processor generation. The newest AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon 6 platforms run DDR5-6400; the previous generation runs DDR5-5600 or DDR5-4800. Each listing uses the speed the platform supports.
Can I mix my existing modules with new ones?
Use identical modules wherever you can: the same type, speed, capacity and rank. Never mix RDIMM with LRDIMM or UDIMM, or ECC with non-ECC. If you are adding to installed memory, send us the part number of the module you have and we will match it.
How should I install memory in a dual-socket or multi-node server?
Populate every memory channel evenly on each processor for full bandwidth, and fill each node of a multi-node system (BigTwin, GrandTwin, HDX, H-series) the same way. Your system manual shows the slot order.
Can I buy memory for a whole cluster or lab?
Yes. Purchase orders, net terms and volume pricing are available for research labs, universities, businesses and government buyers. Request a quote with your system list.
