HPE servers run in data centers of every size: ProLiant DL rack servers and ML towers, Synergy and BladeSystem compute, Apollo and Cray density nodes, SimpliVity and Alletra storage, and Superdome Flex for large-memory work. NEMIX RAM has 282 memory listings for them: 159 matched to a specific server model and generation, and 123 matched to HPE part numbers. This guide explains which memory each family takes and how to find the right listing for yours.
The short answer: the server generation decides the memory. Gen9 and Gen10 ProLiant servers take DDR4, Gen10 Plus takes DDR4-3200, Gen11 takes DDR5-4800 and above, and Gen12 takes DDR5-6400. Most HPE servers take registered memory (RDIMM, or LRDIMM on DDR4); entry servers take ECC UDIMM. Every listing below names the exact model it fits.
Find your model and generation first
The model and generation are on the front bezel and the chassis label, for example DL380 Gen10 Plus or ML350 Gen11. The generation matters more than the model number: a Gen10 DL380 takes DDR4-2666 or DDR4-2933, a Gen10 Plus DL380 takes DDR4-3200, a Gen11 DL380 takes DDR5-4800 and a Gen12 DL380 takes DDR5-6400. If you are adding to an installed server, iLO (System Information, Memory) shows the installed modules and their HPE part numbers.
Type the model, for example DL380 Gen11, ML350 Gen10 or Synergy 480, into the search bar at the top of the page to go straight to its listing.

ProLiant ML towers and the MicroServer
The ML350 and ML110 take registered memory, but the entry servers do not. The ML30 and the MicroServer are unbuffered-only: they take ECC UDIMM and will not run registered modules.
- ML350: ProLiant Compute ML350 Gen12 at DDR5-6400, ML350 Gen11 at DDR5-4800 and DDR5-5600, and ML350 Gen10 at DDR4-2933 in RDIMM and LRDIMM.
- ML110 and ML150: ML110 Gen11 at DDR5-4800 and DDR5-5600; ML110 and ML150 Gen9 in 32GB DDR4-2666 LRDIMM.
- Entry servers, ECC UDIMM: ML30 Gen11 and MicroServer Gen11 at DDR5-4800; ML30 Gen10 Plus and MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 at DDR4-3200.

- BladeSystem: BL460c Gen10, BL460c Gen9, BL660c Gen9 and the WS460c Gen9 graphics blade in 32GB DDR4-2666 LRDIMM.
Dense nodes are usually ordered fully populated. Each listing offers kits sized to the node's channel count, so one kit fills every channel with identical modules.
Alletra, SimpliVity, DX and StoreEasy
- Alletra Storage Server: 4120 at DDR5-4800 and DDR5-5600, 4140 at DDR5-4800 and 4210 at DDR5-6400.

- ProLiant DX: the Gen11 range, including the DX380, at DDR5-4800 RDIMM; DX360 and DX385 Gen10 Plus at DDR4-3200; DX360 Gen10 at DDR4-2933.
- StoreEasy: 1450, 1650, 1660 and 1850 in 32GB DDR4-2666 LRDIMM.
Hyperconverged clusters expect identical memory on every node, so order the same kit for each node in the cluster.
Edge, Superdome Flex and Scale-up
- Compute Edge and EL: Edge Server e920, e920d and e920t at DDR4-3200; e930t at DDR5-4800; ProLiant Compute EL140, EL220 and EL240 Gen12 at DDR5-6400.
- Superdome Flex: Superdome Flex at DDR4-2933 and Superdome Flex 280 at DDR4-3200, each with RDIMM and LRDIMM listings.
- Compute Scale-up Server: 3200 at DDR5-4800 and 3250 at DDR5-6400.
Large-memory systems are assembled from chassis, and every chassis should carry the same module type, capacity and speed. On DDR4 systems, choose RDIMM or LRDIMM and keep to it; LRDIMM reaches the highest capacity.
Ordering by HPE part number
HPE sells memory under option part numbers ending in -B21 and spare numbers ending in -001 or -091. If you are adding to modules you already have, or ordering from an HPE quote, search the number in the HPE part numbers collection. Many listings show the -B21, -H21 and -K21 numbers of the same module together, for example P38446-B21, P38446-H21 and P38446-K21 (32GB DDR4-2933 ECC RDIMM) or 815100-B21, 815100-H21 and 815100-K21 (32GB DDR4-2666 ECC RDIMM). Entry servers use ECC UDIMM part numbers such as 879507-B21 (16GB DDR4-2666). The collection holds 123 listings: 69 DDR4 and 54 DDR5, mostly RDIMM.
How to choose the right module
1. Match the memory type
Servers based on Xeon Scalable, Xeon 6, Xeon W-2400 and W-3400 and AMD EPYC take registered memory (RDIMM or LRDIMM). Entry servers on Xeon E, Xeon 6300, EPYC 4004 and similar take ECC unbuffered UDIMM. Registered or unbuffered, never both, and do not mix RDIMM with LRDIMM, or 3DS with standard RDIMM, in one system.
2. Match the generation
DDR5, DDR4 and DDR3 modules are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots. Speed follows the platform: a faster module clocks down automatically to the speed the processor and slot population support.
3. Fill the channels evenly
Install identical modules in matched groups: six or eight per processor on Intel Xeon Scalable and Xeon 6, and eight or twelve on AMD EPYC. On dual-socket servers, split the kit evenly between the processors.
Buying for a data center, spares pool or refresh

Purchase orders, net terms and volume pricing are available for data centers, enterprises, government buyers and resellers. Request a quote for a refresh or a spares pool.
Frequently asked questions
What memory does an HPE ProLiant server take?
It depends on the generation. Gen9 and Gen10 ProLiant servers take DDR4, Gen10 Plus takes DDR4-3200, and Gen11 and Gen12 take DDR5. Most DL, ML and Synergy servers take registered memory (RDIMM, or LRDIMM on DDR4 generations); entry servers such as the DL20, ML30 and MicroServer take ECC unbuffered UDIMM. Each NEMIX RAM listing names the type its server takes.
Will DDR5 memory work in my Gen10 Plus server?
No. Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers take DDR4; only Gen11 and Gen12 servers take DDR5. DDR5 and DDR4 modules are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots, so choose the listing for your generation.
Can I mix RDIMM and LRDIMM in the same HPE server?
No. Choose one type and use it in every slot. Do not mix 3DS modules with standard RDIMMs either. On DDR5 systems this question does not arise for most models, because DDR5 ProLiant servers take RDIMM only.
Why is my server listed at more than one speed?
Several models support more than one processor family or memory configuration, so they have listings at two or three speeds, for example DDR5-4800 and DDR5-5600 on some Gen11 models. Choose the speed your processors support. A faster module runs at the speed the processor and slot population allow, so it is safe in a slower configuration.
Can I search by HPE part number?
Yes. Type the -B21 option number or the spare number into the search bar at the top of the page. Many listings show the -B21, -H21 and -K21 numbers of the same module together, so any one of them finds the listing.
Can I add NEMIX RAM modules to the HPE memory already installed?
Yes, if the new modules match the installed ones in type, capacity, rank and speed. HPE recommends identical modules within each channel group. iLO (System Information, Memory) lists the installed modules with their HPE part numbers; send us those numbers and we will confirm the match before you order.
