The model code (for example G614, G815 or G835) is on the label on the bottom of the laptop and in the Windows system information. Use the code with the year: ROG sells G16 and G18 laptops in more than one generation, and the memory differs.

Rules that apply across these laptops
- Match the generation. DDR5 (262-pin) and DDR4 (260-pin) SODIMMs are keyed differently and will not fit each other's slots.
- Install matched pairs. The Strix models have two SODIMM slots; identical modules run in dual-channel mode.
- One-slot Zephyrus models. The Zephyrus G14 (2023) and M16 have memory on board plus one SODIMM slot. The listing is for the slot, and ASUS's maximum counts the memory on board.
- The processor sets the speed. Where ASUS lists more than one speed for a model, modules run at the speed the processor supports.
Frequently asked
What memory does an ASUS ROG laptop take?
ROG Strix G16, G18, SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 laptops use non-ECC DDR5 SODIMM in two slots. A few older Zephyrus models have memory on board plus one SODIMM slot. Each listing states the memory type, speed and the maximum ASUS lists for that model.
Can I upgrade a newer ROG Zephyrus G14, G16 or Flow?
Not these. The 2025 and 2026 Zephyrus G14, G16 and Duo, and the Flow Z13, use memory soldered to the board, and ASUS lists no memory expansion for them, so they are not listed.
How do I find my model number?
The model code, for example G614 or G835, is on the label on the bottom of the laptop and in the Windows system information. Use the code together with the year, because ROG sells G16 and G18 models in more than one generation.
Why does the SCAR 16 (2025) stop at 64GB?
ASUS lists 64GB for most versions of this model and 128GB for one. We built the listing to 64GB, the figure ASUS lists for most versions.
Which ROG laptops are not listed yet?
The SCAR 18 (2026), which uses DDR5-6400, and older ROG Strix and Zephyrus models not in the current ASUS US lineup are not listed yet. Send us your model and we will confirm what fits.
