Load-Reduced ECC Server Memory (LRDIMM) — the module type for filling every slot on a high-capacity server. Where an RDIMM buffers only address and command signals, an LRDIMM buffers the data lines too, cutting the electrical load the memory controller sees. That's what lets a board run four ranks per channel at full speed where registered memory would down-clock or refuse to populate.
The range covers all modules in DDR4 and DDR3, from 16GB up to 256GB per module, at 1333MHz through 3200MHz. Most are 4Rx4, with 8Rx4 and 2Rx4 options where the platform calls for them — rank is not a detail here, it's the whole reason LRDIMM exists.
Two things worth knowing before you order. LRDIMM is not a drop-in for RDIMM — a server must explicitly support load-reduced memory, and the two cannot be mixed in the same system. And DDR5 has no LRDIMM; the high-capacity path there is 3DS RDIMM, so if you're speccing a DDR5 platform this isn't the page you want.
