Choosing the right DDR5 server module
DDR5 RDIMM, ECC UDIMM and ECC SODIMM are not interchangeable — each is keyed for its own slot type, so start from what the platform supports. Within RDIMM, match rank organization (1Rx4, 2Rx4, 2Rx8) to the modules already installed where possible; mixed ranks can lower the effective speed. A faster module in a slower platform clocks down to the platform's speed, and a slower module pulls every channel down to its own speed.
